Professor Todd Pittinsky

Todd Pittinsky, Professor in the Department of Technology and Society, has recently published a guest essay titled “I resolve to empathize more with my AI in 2025” in Newsday, January 6,2025.  

In this insightful piece, Dr. Pittinsky notes that as “he relies more on AI, his interactions have become ruder, with less use of polite language like "please" and "thank you."

David Tonjes quoted in Newsday 

Dr. David Tonjes, a retired research associate professor with the Department of Technology and Society at Stony Brook University, was recently quoted in Newsday about a study linking plastics to cardiovascular disease.  Dr. Tonjes said it's important to be aware that using plastic comes with a health cost but because plastic is so pervasive "figuring out how to tread lighter is really difficult."
