Yoshie Kawado is interested in gender equality, activism, the concept of “public sphere,”
and the relationship between political culture and actual policy. With her insights
from professional experience as a journalist in her home country, Japan, she started
exploring how women and other socially oppressed people can make their voices heard
in society. Currently, she is looking at Japan’s sexual and
reproductive health rights policy with particular attention to changes in public opinion(s)
about the matter.
She holds MA in Sociology and Graduate Certificate in Gender and Sexuality Studies from the New School for Social Research.
