ADA Advisory Board & Digital Accessibility Initiatives
Stony Brook University is strengthening its commitment to accessibility through the ADA Advisory Board.
Through Presidential charge to the reconstituted committee with addressing the new DOJ mandates. Our primary objectives include achieving an inventory of digital assets, establishing a timeline, forming subcommittees, and developing a communication strategy.
We are actively working to adhere to the spirit of the mission regarding the April 2026 deadline, acknowledging the scope of an institution this size, to ensure our digital presence is inclusive and accessible.
Federal Mandate & Our Commitment
The Department of Justice updated Title II of the ADA, requiring all websites, digital documents, and mobile apps to be accessible, initiating a two-year compliance deadline for large public entities.
To meet these regulations and foster an inclusive environment, our institution is adhering to WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards.
