ECE Student Michael D’Agati Wins 2016 Goldwater Scholarship

Electrical Engineering student Michael D’Agati is a recipient of the 2016 Goldwater Scholarship. Nationwide, the Goldwater foundation selected 252 scholars out of a field of 1,150 students who were nominated by their respective institutions. The selective award pays for tuition and expenses up to $7,500 per year.

Michael is a sophomore majoring in Electrical Engineering. He is interested in nanotechnology and biomedical applications, and is studying the use of 3-D graphene supercapacitors to power an in vivo embedded system for health monitoring. Since 2013, Michael has contributed to research in the Multi-Functional Nano-Biosystems Laboratory in Stony Brook’s Biomedical Engineering department, led by Prof. Balaji Sitharaman.

After completing his undergraduate degree, Michael plans to pursue a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and aims to conduct research on nanoelectronics for medical applications.
