Clinical Instructor - Nurse Practitioner

Required Qualifications

 Current NYS RN License.  Master's degree in Nursing.  NYS License as an adult and/or family nurse practitioner.  One year of experience in nephrology clinical practice.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional years of related experience in nephrology clinical practice.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our highest standard of excellence. The Nurse Practitioner will report to Dr. Mallipattu in the Division of Nephrology and be responsible for the following:

  • Independently assess and evaluate new and follow up patients with kidney disease.
  • Perform physical exams and procedures.
  • Prescribe dialysis prescription.
  • Manage patients on dialysis and kidney transplantation.
  • Review, evaluate and make recommendations regarding laboratory findings for patients.
  • Manage outpatient phone calls.
  • Work alongside nephrology faculty and trainees.
  • Follow up with patients regarding laboratory and radiology tests by telephone or in person.
  • Provide coverage for inpatient service.
  • Rotate through established "call" schedule for physician extenders as needed.
  • Assist in transition of care planning.
  • Demonstrate skills in collaboration, teamwork and problem solving to achieve goals.
  • Knowledge of basic software packages and hospital information systems.

Special Notes

 This is a non-tenure track position.  FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.  Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated start date: As soon as possible.
