The Undergraduate Colleges currently has two virtual paid student employee opportunities available during the summer of 2026.
Please review the following information carefully to ensure you have the availability
and necessary skills before applying.
Registration Support Assistants (RSA's)
- Attend all scheduled training sessions
- Attend all Registration Workshops (~4 workshops/week from July 9th to August 13th) and work in small groups with students to finish their Fall 2026 course enrollment.
- Pre-register first year students in their core/major classes through the SOLAR system.
- Communicate via email with students about important enrollment deadlines, placement examinations, transfer credits, and more.
- Answer emails from first-year students to address their questions about Stony Brook and their class registration process.
- Monitor enrollment status for students through the use of SLATE, Peoplesoft, Google Sheets, and update information appropriately.
- Call students to follow up about the progress of their placement exams and transfer credits to ensure timely enrollment.
- Attend weekly staff meetings to monitor enrollment progress and receive updates as a team.
- Work on special assignments/projects given by Undergraduate College Advisors related to new student registration.
OTHER INFO:
Hours Per Week: Approximately 20 hr/week
Pay Rate: $17.25 hourly rate
Employment Dates: June - September with paid training sessions beginning on June 1. We are also looking for students to tentatively work during the Fall 2026 semester during add/drop/swap and advance registration periods. Must be available for all of the listed training and workshop dates.
Registration Workshop Assistants (RWA's)
Employment Dates: June 30-August 13, 2026- Attend scheduled training session on June 30th.
- Attend all Registration Workshops (~4 workshops/week from July 9th to August 13th) and working in small groups with students to finish their Fall 2026 course enrollment.
- Follow Advisor recommendations for courses and work under the direction of Advisors and other Undergraduate College team members. In addition, work collaboratively with the RSA's and Team Leaders.
- Be attentive to communications from the UGC team regarding registration updates & attend check-in meetings with the UGC team.
OTHER INFO:
Hours Per Week: Approximately 12 hr/week
Pay Rate: $17.00 hourly rate
Employment Dates: July - August 2026 with paid training session on June 30th. Must be available for all of the listed training and workshop dates.

We are looking for a diverse group of undergraduate students who possess the following qualities:
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work independently and be self motivated
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, SOLAR, gmail
- Familiarity with course selection, graduation requirements, and the enrollment process
- Team player & strong interpersonal skills
- Ambition to assist new students in their transition to Stony Brook
- Possesses Stony Brook University Pride
- Accepting of constructive feedback and a willingness to learn
- Candidates MUST be in good academic standing, with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. Candidates MUST be in good Judicial standing with the university.
- Positions are fully remote for Summer 2026 and will require your own laptop/computer with a webcam and microphone [or external webcam and microphone set up] and reliable internet access.
