Off-Campus & Regulatory Resources
To ensure full compliance and foster an inclusive digital environment, Stony Brook University's ADA Advisory Board actively monitors and aligns with guidelines from external federal, state, and system-wide entities.
Federal Regulations & Guidelines
- U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ): The Department of Justice updated Title II of the ADA, requiring all websites, digital documents, and mobile apps to be accessible. This initiated a two-year compliance deadline for large public entities.
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG): The institution is adhering to WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards. These standards are governed externally by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
State & SUNY System Resources
- New York State Accessibility Requirements: New York State requires Level 2.2 compliance.
- SUNY Requirements. SUNY requires Level 2.2 compliance.
External Training Partners
- Deque University: An external platform partnered with Stony Brook to provide comprehensive accessibility training for our campus community.
