MIC Presents: Best 2026 MIC-URECA Poster Presentation Award

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting undergraduate research, the Center for Multilingual and Intercultural Communication (MIC) is pleased to announce the Best 2026 MIC-URECA Poster Presentation Award. This annual award recognizes THREE (3) exceptional undergraduate students participating in the 2026 Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (URECA) program. The selected poster presentations are expected to focus on issues within the realm of multilingual and intercultural communication and to exhibit not only remarkable quality but also the potential for intellectual and social impact, as determined by MIC faculty judges. The award includes a certificate, a noteworthy mention in campus news and related social media channels, and a $300 gift certificate.

Note: Please add "MIC@2026" at the beginning of your project title (for example: "MIC@2026: The Use of Western Names by Non-Westerners")

Evaluation Criteria

  1. Relevance, significance, and originality of the research topic for multilingual and intercultural communication
  2. Use of appropriate theory and demonstration of adequate knowledge of prior research
  3. Appropriateness, effectiveness, and originality of research design (instruments, techniques, and procedures)
  4. Appropriateness of interpretations (demonstrating evidence and acknowledging limitations)
  5. Clarity and effectiveness of the poster
  6. Clarity and effectiveness of the in-person interactive presentation
  7. Potential for research and social impact on improving the conditions of individuals, groups, and/or societies in the world

Evaluation Procedures

On the day of URECA (May 5th), three MIC faculty judges will engage in dynamic discussions with student researchers about their projects. Following these interactions, each judge will provide individual assessments, rating and ranking the posters and the in-person presentations. The award will be granted to the top three student poster presentations that receive the highest average scores from this year's panel of judges.

Important Dates:
April 10 at 12pm
: Abstract and registration deadline
April 25 at 9am, request due for poster printing to be covered
May 5, poster presentation at URECA
