S-BOLD Letter of Intent Review Process and Outcome

In response to the first round call of the S-BOLD initiative that the President and Provost have announced, we received 15 LOIs distributed among various disciplines including Humanities, Sciences, Engineering, and Multidisciplinary programs. Among the submitted LOIs, six were seeking funding in the Large ($25K-$50K) category, six in the Medium ($10K-$25K) category and three in the Small (up to $10K) funding category. These LOIs were grouped according to their requested funding category and were reviewed by five panels of reviewers with each panel reviewing 3 LOIs.

For most panels, each had six members of reviewers (four members of JACOOL and two experts recommended by Deans and Chairs). Panel recommendations were then reviewed and discussed among members of the OnLine Education Advisory Group (OLEAG) chaired by the Associate Provost for Online Education.

After reviewing recommendations from OLEAG, as well as input from Deans and Chairs, the Provost and Associate Provost for Online Learning have invited the following LOIs (listed in alphabetical order according to lead PI) to advance into the full proposal round:
