Ilan Marans, PhD Candidate

Ilan Marans is a PhD student in Music History and Theory.  He received his B.A. in 2013 from Columbia University, where he majored in Music.   Ilan is interested in the intersections of Phenomenology and  Music Theory, and is particularly curious to investigate questions regarding temporality in the musical experience.  Other interests of his include ontologies of sound, aurality in the religious experience, and new approaches to musical analysis.
