Michael Bennett is a PhD candidate in Music History and Theory. His research focuses on the relationship between musical poetics, the body, and fascism(s) with particular emphasis on Italian music in the wake of WWII. Michael is also interested in this network as it applies to metal music, specifically the evolution of neo-fascism within online black metal subcultures. His dissertation project explores the influence of anti-Fascist ideology and the aesthetics of the literary avant-garde on the music of Italian composer Luciano Berio. Michael is the founder and moderator of the unofficial graduate music reading group Adorno, Pizza, and Beer.
