Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
At Stony Brook University, April is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritages Month. However, we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) heritages, histories, and communities throughout the year. Our events and initiatives foster cultural awareness, community connection, and solidarity across campus—reflecting the diversity and richness of AAPI identities.
A cornerstone of these efforts is the AAPI Mentorship Network Program, which connects students with faculty, staff, alumni, and peers to build meaningful relationships, foster professional growth, and strengthen the sense of belonging. Through mentorship, networking, and shared experiences, this program empowers participants to celebrate identity and navigate their academic and personal journeys with confidence and support.
From mentorship programs and alumni networking opportunities to cultural celebrations, educational workshops, and artistic showcases, these gatherings create spaces for learning, reflection, and joy. While Asian Americans make up a vibrant part of our campus community, we also honor and uplift Pacific Islander voices and cultures in the spirit of inclusion and shared celebration. We invite all members of the Stony Brook community to take part in these programs year-round and join us in recognizing the ongoing contributions of AAPI communities.
