Judith Lochhead is Professor of Critical Music Studies at Stony Brook University.  Lochhead’s research focuses on music of the present from analytical, historical, critical,
                     and ethnographic perspectives.  Lochhead’s recent co-edited volume is forthcoming in Spring 2026:  The Music of Absence: An Aesthetics of Loss in the New Millennium, edited with Peter Edwards and Christine Dysers, Edinburgh University Press. Some recent

Lochhead teaches a variety of music theoretical, analytical and historical courses in the Department of Music at Stony Brook. These include:Â
