Scott Chupp, MA Student

Scott Chupp is an MA student in Critical Music Studies. He received his B.A. from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study. His research considers the history and theory of experimental electronic music in both institutional and vernacular contexts, with a particular focus on the Groupe de Recherches Musicales during the 1960s and 1970s. Further interests include sound studies, modernism, and critical theory. Recently, Scott presented a paper, co-authored with Michael Beckerman, “The Limits of Stylometry: Marginalized Authors and the Problem of Corpus Size” at the 2025 conference of the Association for Computers and the Humanities. In his free time, Scott enjoys producing electronic music, playing in bands, and improving at chess.
